What will you learn?
You learn to use engineering tools and equipment safely to make or modify objects, with an introduction to welding and to machining something on a lathe rather than the full trade theory behind either. Study is built around a major project, and it suits a simulated workshop setting, so you can build skills even when a real workplace placement is not available. Work placement is possible where an employer can take you, and the qualification is designed to improve your chances of getting an apprenticeship, a traineeship or general work in an engineering-related workplace.
