What will you learn?
You learn to patrol premises, screen people and their bags at entrances, control access and monitor crowd behaviour. The core also covers first aid, basic defensive techniques and the legal limits on what a security officer can do, including how to manage intoxicated or unruly people and remove someone from a venue. It is a hands-on, entry-level course rather than an academic one, and it opens the door to work in settings such as events, retail, hospitals and cash handling.
