Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:
- an interest in how small engines work
- a willingness to get your hands dirty
- patience for tracking down a fault
- care with fuel, sharp edges and exhaust
What will you learn?
You learn how small petrol engines work and how to strip them down, find the fault and rebuild them, along with the cutting and pumping systems bolted to them. Safety and environmental practice run through the whole course, because fuel, oil, sharp edges and two-stroke exhaust are part of every working day. It suits someone who likes pulling things apart to see why they stopped, and it leads into work in outdoor power equipment shops, mower and chainsaw dealerships, hire businesses and grounds maintenance crews.
