What will you learn?

Students learn to look after the health and daily care of research animals, including rodents and rabbits, run breeding programs, and carry out procedures such as anaesthesia, non-surgical work, post-mortems and euthanasia. Compliance runs through the whole course: containing animals safely, managing workplace health and safety, and meeting the standards research facilities are audited against. It suits someone already handling animals who wants responsibility for an animal house, a facility or a team.

Units of competency (14 core, 6 elective)
