Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:

  • an interest in bringing people together for a shared occasion
  • a knack for planning and keeping track of details
  • confidence when speaking with clients and suppliers
  • a calm approach when things need sorting out on the day

What will you learn?

You learn to build and track a budget, lead the casual staff and volunteers who work an event, negotiate with suppliers and venues, and keep everyone safe while it is running. Sales, marketing and client proposals also come into it, because most events have to pay for themselves. The work splits between an office during the planning months and the venue itself on the day.

  • Budgeting for events
  • Leading casual staff
  • Running events on the day
  • Managing suppliers and venues
  • Marketing and selling events
  • Safety and risk planning
