Recruiter resume template preview: an Australian example with a professional summary, key skills, experience bullet points and education sections filled in

Which resume format should you use?

Reverse chronological

You have a steady work history. This is the format almost every recruiter and ATS expects by default.

Functional

You're changing fields or have gaps in your employment. Leads with skills rather than a job-by-job timeline.

Combination

You're early career or have worked consistently but for only a few employers. Blends a skills summary with a shorter chronological history.

This template uses the reverse chronological format: the one most recruiters should default to, since most Australian recruiters and ATS software expect it.

Professional summary

Recruiter with a track record of sourcing, screening and placing candidates across administrative, professional services and health care employers. Comfortable managing full-cycle recruitment from initial briefing through to offer negotiation and onboarding, with strong stakeholder management and a practical grip on ATS and reporting tools. Known for building genuine relationships with both hiring managers and candidates rather than treating placements as transactions.

Key skills

  • Selling and negotiation
  • Account and relationship management
  • Stakeholder management
  • Candidate sourcing and pipeline management
  • LinkedIn Recruiter
  • Applicant tracking systems (ATS)
  • Greenhouse or Workable
  • Excel and Tableau reporting
  • Written communication
  • Attention to detail

Experience: example bullet points

  • Sourced candidates for a mix of permanent and contract roles using LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards and direct outreach, keeping a consistent pipeline of qualified applicants for repeat hiring managers
  • Screened resumes and conducted initial phone and video interviews to shortlist candidates, reducing time hiring managers spent reviewing unsuitable applications
  • Coordinated interview schedules between candidates and hiring managers across multiple business units, managing calendars and feedback loops through Microsoft Teams
  • Negotiated salary packages and employment terms with selected candidates, balancing client budgets against market rates to close offers without losing preferred candidates
  • Maintained recruitment databases and pipeline reports in an ATS, using Excel to track time-to-fill and source-of-hire data for monthly stakeholder updates

Education

No single mandatory qualification: roughly a third of recruiters hold a bachelor degree (commonly in human resources, business or psychology), while others enter through Certificate III/IV or Diploma-level business and recruitment courses, or move across from sales, admin or account management roles without a formal recruitment qualification.

Keywords an ATS is likely to scan for

Applicant tracking systems match your resume against terms in the job ad before a person ever sees it. Only include the ones that actually apply to your experience, but if a term below matches something you've done, use the same wording the job ad uses.

Getting past ATS screening

This is a starting point, not a guarantee of interviews. Tailor every bullet point to your own real experience and the specific job ad.
