How the matching works
There's no personality framework behind this quiz. Your answers become a set of preferences on simple scales: what kind of work you want, where, how much time with people, how physical, how much responsibility, and so on. Every one of the 1211 roles in our database has a profile on the same scales, built from its typical tasks, its entry requirements, the education people in the role actually hold, and its AI exposure.
A match is how close your preferences sit to a role's profile, with the kind of work and the physical demand weighted most. The three closest scales become the reasons shown on each card, and the widest gap becomes the watch-out. Study time and a salary floor lower a role's score instead of removing it, so a school leaver who says "no further study" still sees a full list. No more than two roles from one industry make the top five.
Every figure on a result is the same datum, from the same source, as the role's own page. Salary, employment and growth come from Jobs and Skills Australia and the ABS. AI exposure and the role profiles are our own derived data. Figures marked with an asterisk are estimates where official data isn't published for that role. Data last updated 2026-09-01.

- What do I get at the end?
- A ranked list of real Australian occupations from our database, not a personality type. Each match shows why it matched, the median salary, projected employment growth, AI exposure and the study normally needed to get in, with a link to the full role page.
- How is the match worked out?
- Your answers become a set of preferences, each on a scale from 0 to 1. Every role has a profile on the same scales, derived from its tasks, entry requirements, education data and AI exposure. The match is how close the two are, with the biggest weight on the kind of work and how physical it is. Study time and a salary floor lower a score rather than removing a role, so you always get results.
- Is anything I answer stored?
- No. The matching runs in your browser, your answers stay on your device, and we only count how many people start and finish the quiz. Refreshing the page keeps your progress until you close the tab.
- Are the results influenced by advertisers or course providers?
- No. The ranking uses only the occupation data and your answers. No role is weighted towards any course, employer or advertiser.
- How long does it take?
- About five minutes. There are 14 questions, or 16 if you're starting out, one per screen, and you can go back at any point.
