Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:
- an interest in working outdoors in resources and infrastructure
- a careful attitude to site safety and following procedures
- willingness to handle materials and basic tools
- good communication skills for working with a team
What will you learn?
You learn what a site expects of a new worker: staying safe, handling materials and tools, following set procedures and keeping the paperwork straight, while taking some responsibility for the quality of what you finish. It is built as a pathway, so the aim is to get you ready to take on a sector-specific Certificate III rather than to qualify you for a trade on its own. Because licensing and certification rules differ between states, territories and industry sectors, it pays to check with the relevant body before you enrol.
