What will you learn?

A lot of the job is plumbing, so you learn to handle pipes and materials, use hand and power tools, read plans and mark out, weld mild steel and fabricate pressure piping. The specialist side covers designing sprinkler layouts from pre-calculated charts and tables, fitting control valves, alarms and actuating devices, and testing and maintaining pumpsets, hydrants and hose reels. Training is done in a real or closely simulated workplace, you need general construction induction training before entering a construction site, and the trade is licensed, with requirements set by each state and territory authority.
