What will you learn?
You learn to shape and join hulls and decks in fibre-reinforced plastics, timber and metal, fit out interiors and external components, and install engine drive systems. Training happens largely on the job in a boatyard or manufacturing workshop, alongside the technical study that backs it up, so your skills are assessed on real vessels rather than in a classroom alone. It suits someone who wants a trade with variety, since the work moves between new builds, refits and repairs across different materials.
