Entry requirements

The entry requirement for this qualification is Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure, or relevant industry experience gained by working in the rail infrastructure environment.

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:

  • an interest in working outdoors on rail tracks
  • good communication skills for briefings and radio calls
  • a careful approach to safety and quality
  • the confidence to coordinate the work of others

What will you learn?

You learn to run workplace briefings, use rail communications systems, apply quality systems and monitor work health and safety on site. It also covers coordinating the work of others, which suits people moving into ganger or senior track roles. Specialist electives let you focus on an area such as track welding, turnout installation or track examination.
