Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:
- an interest in construction work and how structures go up
- a careful attitude to safety on site
- the ability to work well in a team
- basic measuring and planning skills
What will you learn?
You learn to plan a job, set out levels, read plans and specifications, and erect, alter and dismantle scaffolds on residential and commercial sites using the tools and components that make up a scaffold. Alongside that come the general construction skills every site expects: measuring and calculating, workplace communication, and safe work practices, including the construction induction card that anyone doing construction work needs. Licensing is handled by state and territory regulators, so it is worth checking the requirements with the one covering where you work.
