Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:

  • a careful approach to safety around machinery
  • good attention to detail when checking products
  • problem solving skills for sorting out faults

What will you learn?

You learn to start up and shut down machinery safely, check that what comes off the line meets the specification, and work out what has gone wrong when a product comes out faulty. The materials you'd work with cover both thermoplastics and thermosetting polymers, and the runs range from long batches of a standard item to one-off specialised pieces. Judgement matters as much as machine time, because you're the one spotting variances and deciding what to do about them.
