What will you learn?

You learn to run individual and group sessions, explain health conditions and medical terms in plain language, keep clients safe from infection and injury, and respond calmly when someone's behaviour puts them or others at risk. The role sits within a scope of practice set by the supervising professional, so the course also covers taking direction, reporting changes and working with families and carers. A supervised clinical placement is part of the qualification, and it is where most students first pull these skills together with real clients in settings such as hospitals, aged care, disability services and private clinics.
