Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:

  • a calm manner around people who are nervous
  • an interest in how the body responds to anaesthesia
  • good communication skills with patients and colleagues
  • careful attention to detail with equipment and medications

What will you learn?

The course walks through that whole sequence, alongside the legal and ethical side of health care, medical terminology and infection control. You also learn to keep anaesthetic equipment, medications and consumables stocked, clean and ready, which is much of the work between cases. Supervised hours in a clinical workplace are built into the training, so you finish having worked with real patients rather than only in a classroom.
